About Donna

Donna had the desire to become an artist her entire life.  She, like many artists, suppressed her creative desire to work and care for her family.  In time, her creativity emerged and she is now an accomplished, working artist.  Her love for watercolor began in Pennsylvania, at the Oil City Center for Arts.  She recieved instruction in drawing, perspective, color theory, and positive and negative painting.

Donna recreates original scenes, using traditional techniques such as layering, mixing colors, and glazing, with an emphasis on composition.  Donna's palette, consisting mostly of transparent paints, creates the luminosity that is reflected in her paintings.  Donna uses various subjects and is constantly delving into new territory, which keeps her viewers interested.

Donna is the founder of South Coast Watercolorists, which includes a group of novice and professional artists.  She has been a member of Chesapeake Bay Watercolor Society, and studied art at Tidewater Community College, Virginia Beach Contemporary Art Center, Virginia Beach Adult Education Program, and the Franklin G. Burroughs Art Museum.   Donna was successful featured artist and instructor at Olde Towne Art in Portsmouth, VA for the last four years.   She is currently a featured artist at THE ARTIST GALLERY, at 608 Norfolk, Ave., Virginia Beach, VA 23451 or call  757-425-6671.
